I love LinkedIn and find it very useful for job hunting and networking – you might even get your first job through this tool.
Note: remember you do not have to do a course to have an awareness of a subject and this can be applied to any subject that you have personally read about / investigated that you might want to add to your CV. It helps to add your plans to improve on this awareness and take it to the next level.
For Junior Project / PMO related work they will be looking for the following skills:
• Excellent communicator
• Demonstrable organisational skills
• Demonstrable negotiation skills (This is good to show you can engage with suppliers and internal project stakeholders – be prepared to state examples where you have negotiated to get something you want)
• PRINCE2 awareness (Foundation desirable)
• MS Project Planning awareness
• Presentation Skills – hopefully you will be able to say you have a good knowledge of PPT – see my other blogs for example governance packs and reports for an idea of what you might be required to create.
• Good mathematical understanding and enthusiasm to gain project budget management skills – supported by basic Excel understanding
• Keen to get involved with minute / actions logging and meeting organisation
• Understanding of Risk and Issue Management and enthusiasm to explore this further
• Understanding of Project Lifecycles
